Oral health education, which is very important to oral health promotion, is concerned with the healthrelated behaviors of people. The facilitation of beneficial and willful changes in people´s behavior, development of oral health educational materials based on the oral health promotion is required. The purpose of this study was to investigate the utilization and effectiveness of the oral health educational materials at health centers in Korea.
97 oral health educators who worked at health centers were surveyed by postal questionnaire. Questionnaires included utilization of oral health educational materials, frequency of oral health education, effects of oral health education, requirement and kinds for additional development of oral health educational materials.
The obtained results were as follows,
1. Overheads and video films were more frequently used than projected slides and charts at health centers in Korea,
2. Preschool, elementary school, middle and high school children showed more interested in overheads and video films(p (0. 05).
3. Development of oral-health educational materials for preschool children, 0-3 year-old children´s parents, elementary school children were required.
4. There was a great demand for programmed and computer-assisted instructions in the development of oral health educational materials.
